Vor der Predigt.

Geh, Jesu, geh zu deiner Pein!
Ich will so lange dich beweinen,
Bi� mir dein Trost wird wieder scheinen,
Da ich vers�hnet werde seyn.

Und nach zween Tagen war Ostern, und die Tage der s�ssen Brodte. Und die Hohen-Priester und Schrifftgelehrten suchten, wie sie ihn mit Listen griffen und t�dteten. Sie sprachen aber:

Ja nicht auf das Fest, da� nicht ein Aufruhr im volck werde.

[2c.(4.)] Evangel.

Und da er zu Bethanien war, in Simonis, des Au��tzigen Hause, und sa� zu Tische, da kam ein Weib, die hatte ein Gla� mit ungef�lschtem und k�stlichen Narden-Wasser; Und sie zerbrach das Gla�, und go� es auf sein Haupt. Da waren etliche die wurden unwillig und sprachen:

Was soll doch dieser Unrath? Man k�nte das Wasser mehr denn um dreyhundert Groschen verkaufft haben, und dasselbe den Armen geben.

Sie stellen uns wie Ketzern nach,
Nach unsern Blut sie trachten,

Jesus aber sprach:

Lasset sie zufrieden; was bek�mmert ihr sie. 'sie hat ein gut Werck an mir gethan. Ihr habt allezeit Armen bey euch, und wenn ihr wollet, k�nnet ihr ihnen Gutes thun! Mich aber habet ihr nicht allezeit. Sie hat gethan, was sie konte; Sie ist zuvor kommen, meinen Leichnam zu salben zu meinem Begr�bni�. Warlich, ich sage euch: Wo dis Evangelium geprediget wird in aller Welt, da wird man auch das sagen zu ihrem Ged�chtni�, das sie ietzt gethan hat.

Und Judas Ischarioth, einer von den Zw�lffen, gieng hin zu den Hohen-Priestern, da� er ihn verriethe. Da sie das h�reten, wurden sie froh, und verhiessen ihm das Geld zu geben. Und er suchete, wie er ihn f�glich verriethe.

Mir hat die Welt tr�glich gericht,
Mit L�gen und mit falschem G'dicht,
Viel Netz und heimlich Stricke.
Herr nimm mein wahr,

Und am ersten Tage der s�ssen Brodte, da man das Osterlamm opfferte, sprachen seine J�nger zu ihm:

Wo wilt du, da� wir hingehen, und bereiten, da� du das Oster- Lamm essest?

Und er sandte seiner J�nger zween, und sprach zu ihnen:

Gehet hin in die Stadt, und es wird euch ein Mensch begegnen, der tr�gt einen Krug mit Wasser, folget ihm nach, und wo er eingehet, da sprecht zu dem Hau�-Wirth: Der Meister l��t dir sagen: Wo ist das Gast-Hau�, darinnen ich das Oster-Lamm esse mit meinen J�ngern? Und er wird euch einen grossen Saal zeigen, der gepflastert und bereitet ist, daselbst richtet f�r uns zu.

Und die J�nger giengen aus, und kamen in die Stadt, und funden, wie er ihnen gesget hatte, und bereiteten das Oster- Lamm. Am Abend aber kam er mit den Zw�lffen. Und als sie zu Tische sassen, und assen, sprach Jesus:

Warlich, ich sage euch, einer unter euch, der mit mir isset, wird mich verrathen.

Und sie wurden traurig, und sagten zu ihm, einer nach dem andern: Bin ichs?

Er antwortete, und sprach zu ihnen;

Einer aus den Zw�lffen, der mit mir in die Sch�ssel tauchet. Zwar des Menschen Sohn gehet hin, wie von ihm geschrieben stehet. Wehe aber dem Menschen, durch welchen des Menschen Sohn verrathen wird; Es w�re demselben Menschen besser, da� er nie gebohren w�re.

Und indem sie assen, nahm Jesus das Brodt, danckete und brachs, und gabs ihnen, und sprach:

Nehmet, esset, das ist mein Leib.

Und nahm den Kelch, und danckete, und gab ihnen den; und sie truncken alle daraus. Und er sprach zu ihnen:

Das ist mein Blut des Neuen Testaments, das f�r viele vergossen wird. Warlich, ich sage euch, da� ich hinfort nicht trincken werde vom Gew�chse des Weinstocks, bi� auf den Tag, da ichs neu trincke in dem Reich Gottes.

Und da sie den Lob-Gesang gesprochen hatten, giengen sie hinaus an den Oelberg. Und Jesus sprach zu ihnen:

Ihr werdet euch in dieser Nacht alle an mir �rgern. Denn es stehet geschrieben: Ich werde den Hirten schlagen, und die Schaafe werden sich zerstreuen. Aber nachdem ich auferstehe, will ich vor euch hingehen in Galil�am.

Wach auf, o Mensch, vom S�nden-Schlaf,
Ermuntre dich, verlohrnes Schaaf,
Und be�re bald dein Leben!
Wach auf, es ist doch hohe Zeit,

Petrus aber sagte zu ihm:

Warlich, ich sage dir, heute in dieser Nacht, ehe denn der Hahn zweymahl kr�het, wirst du mich dreymahl verl�ugnen.

Er aber redete noch weiter:

Ja, wenn ich auch mit dir sterben m�ste, wolte ich dich nicht verl�ugnen.

Desselbigen gleichen sagten sie alle. Und sie kamen zu dem Hofe, mit nahmen Gethsemane. Und er sprach zu seinen J�ngern:

Setzet euch hie, bi� ich hingehe, und bethe.

Und nahm zu sich Petrum, und Jacobum, und Johannem; und fieng an zu zittern und zu zagen, und sprach zu ihnen:

Meine Seele ist betr�bt bi� an den Tod, enthaltet euch hie, und wachet.

Betr�btes Hertz sey Wohlgemuth,
Thu nicht so gar verzagen,
Es wird noch alles werden gut,

Und gieng ein wenig f�rba�, fiel auf die Erde, und betete, da�, so es m�glich w�re, die Stunde, vor�ber gienge, und sprach:

Abba, mein Vater, es ist dir alles m�glich, �berhebe mich dieses Kelchs? Doch nicht was ich will, sondern was du wilst.

Machs mit mir gott, nach deiner G�t,
Hilff mir in meinen Leiden,
Was ich dich bitt, versag mirs nit,
Wenn sich mein Seel soll scheiden,
So nimm sie, Herr, in deine H�nd,

Und kam, und fand sie schlafend. Und sprach zu Petro,

Simon, schl�fest du? Verm�gest du nicht eine Stunde zu wachen? Wachet und betet, da� ihr nicht in Versuchung fallet. Der Geist ist willig, aber das Fleisch ist schwach.

Und gieng wieder hin, und betete, und sprach dieselbigen Worte. Und kam wieder, und fand sie abermahl schlafend, (denn ihre Augen waren voll Schlafs,) und wusten nicht, was sie ihm antworteten. Und er kam zum drittenmahl und sprach zu ihnen:

Ach wollt ihr nun schlafen und ruhen? Es ist gnug, die Stund ist kommen. Siehe, des Menschen Sohn wird �berantwortet in der S�nder H�nde. Stehet auf, lasset uns gehen; Der mich verr�th, ist nahe.

Er kommt, er kommt, er ist vorhanden!
Mein Jesu, ach! er suchet dich,
Entfliehe doch, und la�e mich

Und alsbald, da er noch redete, kam herzu Judas, der Zw�lffen einer, und eine gro�e Schaar mit ihm, mit Schwerdtern und mit Stangen, von den Hohen-Priestern und Schrifftgelehrten und Aeltesten. Und der Verr�ther hatte ihnen ein Zeichen gegeben, und gesagt: Welchen ich k�ssen werde, der ists; Den greiffet, und f�hret ihn gewi�. Und da er kam, trat er bald zu ihm, und sprach zu ihm:

Rabbi, Rabbi.

Die aber legten ihre H�nde an ihn, und griffen ihn. Einer aber von denen, die dabey stunden, zog sein Schwerd aus, und schlug des Hohen-Priesters Knecht, und hieb ihm ein Ohr ab. Und Jesus antwortete und sprach zu ihnen:

Ihr seyd ausgegangen, als zu einem M�rder, mit Schwerden und mit Stangen, mich zu fahen. Ich bin t�glich bey euch im Tempel gewesen, und habe gelehret, und ihr habt mich nicht gegriffen. Aber auf da� die Schrifft erf�llet werde.

Jesu, ohne Missethat,
Im Garten vorhanden,
Da man dich gebunden hat
Fest mit harten Banden.
Wenn uns will der b�se Feind
Mit der S�nde binden,
So la� uns, o Menschen-Freund!

Und die J�nger verlie�en ihn alle, und flohen. Und es war ein J�ngling, der folgete ihm nach, der war mit Leinwand bekleidet auf der blosen Haut; und die J�nglinge griffen ihn. Er aber lie� den Leinwand fahren und flohe blo� von ihnen.

Ich will hier bey dir stehen,
Verla�e mich doch nicht,
Von dir will ich nicht gehen,
Wenn dir dein Hertze bricht,
Wenn dein Haupt wird erblassen

Mein Tr�ster ist nicht mehr bey mir,
Mein Jesu, soll ich dich verliehren,
Und zum Verderben sehen f�hren?
Das k�mmt der Seele schmertzlich f�r.
Der Unschuld, welche nichts verbrochen,
Dem Lamm, das ohne Missethat,
Wird in dem ungerechten Rath
Ein Todes-Urtheil zugesprochen.

Und sie f�hreten Jesum zu dem Hohen-Priester, dahin zusammen kommen waren alle Hohe Priester und Aeltesten und Schrifftgelehrten. Petrus aber folget ihnen nach von ferne, bi� hinein in des Hohen Priesters Pallast; und er war da, und sa� bey den Knechten, und w�rmete sich bey dem Licht. Aber die Hohen Priester und der gantze Rath suchten Zeugni� wider Jesum, auf da� sie ihm zum Tode br�chten; und funden nichts. Viel gaben falsch Zeugni� wider ihn, aber ihr Zeugni� stimmetenicht �berein. Und etliche stunden auf, und gaben falsch Zeugni� wider ihn, und sprachen:

Wir haben geh�ret, da� er sagete: Ich will den Tempel, der mit H�nden gemachet ist, abbrechen, und in dreyen Tagen einen andern bauen, der nicht mit H�nden gemacht sey.

Aber ihr Zeugni� stimmete noch ncht �berein.

Was Menschen Krafft und Witz anf�ht,
Soll uns billig nicht schrecken,
Er sitzet an der h�chsten St�tt,
Er wird ihr'n Rath aufdecken.
Wenn sies aufs kl�gste greiffen an,
So geht doch Gott ein andre Bahn,
Es steht in seinen H�nden.

Und der Hohe Priester stund auf unter sie, und fragte Jesum, und sprach:

Antwortest du nichts zu dem, das diese wider dich zeugen?

Er aber schwieg stille, und antwortet nichts.

Befiehl du deine Wege,
Und was dein Hertze kr�nckt,
Der allertreusten Pflege,
Des, der den Himmel lenckt,
Der Wolcken, Lufft und Winden,

Da frage ihn der Hohe Priester abermahl, und sprach zu ihm:

Bist du Christus, der Sohn des Hochgelobten?

Ich bins. Und ihr werdet sehen des Menschen Sohn sitzen zur rechten Hand der Krafft, und kommen mit des Himmels Wolcken.

Da zerri� der Hohe-Priester seinen Rock und sprach:

Was d�rffen wir weiter Zeugen? Ihr habet geh�ret die Gottes- L�sterung. Was d�ncket euch?

Sie aber verdammeten ihn alle, da� er des Todes schuldig w�re. Da fiengen an etlich ihn zu verspeyen, und zu verdecken sein Angesicht, und mit F�usten zu schlagen, und zu ihm zu sagen:

Und die Knechte schlugen ihn ins angesicht.

Du edles Angesichte,
Daf�r sonst schrickt und scheut
Das gro�e Welt-Gerichte,

Und Petrus war danieden im Pallast, da kam des Hohen-Priesters M�gde eine. Und da sie sahe Petrum sich w�rmen, schauet sie ihn an, und sprach:

Er aber l�ugnete und sprach:

Ich kenne ihn nicht, wei� auch nicht, was du sagest.

Und er gieng hinaus in den Vorhoff; Und der Hahn kr�hete. Und die Magd sahe ihn an, und hub abermahl an zu sagen denen, die dabey stunden:

Und er l�ugnete abermahl. Und nach einer kleinen Weile sprachen abermahl zu Petro, die dabey stunden:

Und der Hahn krehete zum andernmahl. Da gedachte Petrus an das Wort, das Jesus zu ihm sagete: Ehe der Hahn zweymahl kr�het, wirst du mich dreymahl verl�ugnen. Und er hub an zu weinen.

Herr, ich habe mi�gehandelt,
Ja, mich dr�ckt der S�nden Last,
Ich bin nicht den Weg gewandelt,
Den du mir gezeiget hast,
Und ietzt wolt ich gern aus Schrecken

Und bald am Morgen hielten die Hohen-Priester einen Rath mit den Aeltesten und Schrifftgelehrten, dazu der gantze Rath, und bunden Jesum, und f�hreten ihn hin, und �berantworteten ihn Pilato. Und Pilatus fraget ihn:

Bist du ein K�nig der J�den?

(Evangelista)
Er antwortet aber, und sprach zu ihm:

(Jesus)
Du sagests.

(Evangelista)
Und die Hohen-Priester beschuldigten ihn hart. Pilatus aber fragete ihn abermahl, und sprach:

(Pilatus)
Antwortest du nichts? Siehe, wie hart sie dich verklagen.

(Evangelista)
Jesus aber antwortete nichts mehr, also, da� sich auch Pilatus verwunderte. Er pflegete aber ihnen auf das Oster-Fest einen Gefangenen lo� zu geben, welchen sie begehrten. Es war aber, einer genannt Barabbas, gefangen mit den Aufr�hrischen die im Aufruhr einen Mord begangen hatten. Und das Volck gieng hinauf, und bath, da� er th�te, wie er pflegete. Pilatus aber antwortete ihnen:

Wollet ihr, da� ich euch den K�nig der J�gen lo� gebe.

Denn er wuste, da� ihn die Hohen-Priester aus Neid �berantwortet hatten. Aber die Hohen-Priester reitzten das Volck, da� er ihnen viel lieber den Barabbam lo� gebe. Pilatus aber antwortete wiederum, und sprach zu ihnen:

Was wollet ihr denn, das ich thue dem, den ihr schuldigt, er sey ein K�nig der J�den?

Sie schryen abermal:

Pilatus aber gedachte dem Volck genung zu thun, und gab ihnen Barabam lo�; und �berantwortete ihnen Jesum, da� er gegeisselt und gecreutziget w�rde. Die Krieges-Knechte aber f�hreten ihn hinein in das Richt-Hau�, und riessen zusammen die gantze Schaar; Und zogen ihm einen Purpur an, and flochten eine dornene Krone, und setzten sie ihm auf. Und schlugen ihm das Haupt mit dem Rohr und verspeyeten ihn, und fielen auf die Knie, und beteten ihn an.

Dich mit grossem Schimpff belegt,
Und mit Dornen gar gecr�net:
Was hat dich dazu beweget?

Und da sie ihn verspottet hatten, zogen sie ihm den Purpur aus, und zogen ihm seine eigene Kleider an, und f�hreten ihn aus, da� sie ihn creutzigten. What point hath all this nonsense? For this ointment could have been sold for more than three hundred dinarii and the sum given to the poor.

And they led Jesus to the high priest, where all the chief priests and elders and scribes had assembled. But Peter followed them at a distance, as far as the court of the high priest's palace; and he was there and sat by the servants and warmed himself by the firelight. But the chief priests and the whole council sought witness against Jesus, that they might put him to death, and found none. Many bore false witness against him, but their witness did not agree. And some arose and bore false witness against him and said:

We have heard him say, "I will destroy the temple which has been made with hands and in three days build another which is not made with hands."

But their testimony still did not agree.
